VTNZ announces that practical driving tests are now available in Matamata

Due to community demand, VTNZ and Waka Kotahi have worked together to establish practical driving tests in Matamata.

Rachael Jobson, VTNZ’s Operations Support Manager, says there is currently a driving test officer available every Monday for those wishing to obtain their restricted or full Class 1 licence.

“The service officially opened on Monday October 17 and slots filled up quickly. We plan to expand this service soon if demand continues to increase.

“We recently offered practical driving tests in Cambridge three days a week and it has been so successful that waiting times are increasing. Opening a service in Matamata, just twenty minutes away, can help ease the pressure on the Cambridge service,” said Rachael Jobson.

Waka Kotahi NZ Waikato transport agency regional relations manager David Speirs said the new service was a result of “doing things a little differently” for the good of the community.

“Waka Kotahi is looking for ways to reduce barriers for people who want to get a driver’s license,” he said.

“We are delighted to provide Matamata with a local test drive service through our partner VTNZ. We are also grateful to Carpet Court Matamata for their community spirit in providing a convenient location for this important service.
