mPharma (, a leading pan-African health technology company, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing access to affordable healthcare solutions in Africa.

CEO and co-founder of mPharma, Mr. Gregory Rockson, revealed this during the virtual launch of his impact report held on Thursday, April 28, 2022. The launch was attended by the former Minister of Ghana Health, Mr. Alex Segbefia, representing the former President of Ghana, HE John Dramani Mahama, and the Head of Value Creation, Gabon Sovereign Wealth Fund, Serge Amissah.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rockson noted that mPharma’s contribution to addressing the healthcare challenge could not be overstated, given its role at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the company, since its inception, has deployed many innovative strategies to improve access, not only to medicines, but to essential health services such as molecular diagnostic tests.

He further disclosed that the company’s intervention aims to address affordability and access issues to prescription drugs caused by excessive markups charged by various stakeholders along the drug supply chain. .

“We needed a solution to address the challenge of drug availability, accessibility and affordability to deliver value to patients. To address availability and affordability, we started with a pilot project in Ghana, our QualityRx program, which provides an innovative and affordable financing solution for struggling family pharmacies with a track record of high performance. The program provides financing for refurbishment, inventory, customer management and technology costs. By “reviving” these pharmacies, we have not only expanded our network of pharmacies, but above all, improved access to affordable medicines. Pharmacies under the QualityRx model operate under the brand “one pharmacy mutti”. With QualityRx, we have come one step closer to our goal of making drugs more affordable for patients because we directly control prices for all Mutti pharmacies,” he said.

He further noted that the company remains committed to building a healthy African. He said he recently secured $35 million in funding as part of the first tranche of a major funding round for business operations.

According to him, the funding would lead to the expansion of our network of facilities and further improve our technological infrastructure.

He further explained that the company has become an essential factor in providing solutions to the many problems caused by the pandemic. The company has leveraged its partnership with esteemed partners such as Breyer Capital to deploy our free COVID-19 test and millions of COVID-19 test kits to government institutions, private labs and organizations in eight African countries.

“We recognized that the private health sector is an important partner in the delivery of health care, and we expected that African governments would face challenges in rolling out free COVID-19 tests. We have proactively leveraged our relationship with mPharma investor Breyer Capital to partner with Sansure Biotech to secure one million COVID-19 and 150 Polymerase test kits.”

In his address, the former President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama commended mPharma for promoting good health for all Africans while declaring the launch of the impact report. He further urged the company to continue promoting technology-based, patient-centered and community-driven approaches that can meet the needs of patients, regardless of location or financial status.

Also speaking at the launch, Gabon’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Head of Value Creation, Serge Amissah expressed his joy in supporting the rebuilding of the health sector in Gabon. He noted that health is an essential resource for future generations, and that is why the Fund partnered with mPharma to develop models to rebuild Gabon’s central medical store.
