Great Southern drilling to polish the Southern Star gold deposit

With recent drilling returning high-grade gold interceptions to Southern Star, it’s no surprise that Great Southern is now digging more drill holes to better understand the deposit.

Previous reverse circulation drilling on the deposit had reached thick gold intersections such as 68 m at 1.9 grams per tonne (g / t) at a depth of 61 m and an intersection of 59 m grading 2.1 g / t gold at 53 m. These confirm that its in-depth potential has remained open.

GSN’s shares received a boost when high-grade gold was discovered 200m south of the previously known extent of mineralization in October of this year with an intersection of 17m at 7g / t Au, including 1 m at 109 g / t Au.

Great Southern Mining (ASX: GSN) Currently drilling two diamond holes to a depth of 160 m to increase its geological understanding – including the orientation of structures controlling gold mineralization – of Southern Star.

The first hole is drilled between the 68 m at 1.9 g / t and 59 m at 2.1 g / t intersections while the second will be drilled in the new high grade south discovery zone.

“The diamond drill holes currently being drilled at Southern Star will give us a first detailed look at the gold mineralization and associated geology at Southern Star,” said General Manager Sean Gregory.

“As the hole locations are adjacent to our recent thick high grade RC intersections, we look forward to some interesting geology.

“We expect this program will help with all future work at Southern Star, including refining our targeting for the RC extension drilling slated for early next year.”

Since the confirmation of the presence of gold at Southern Star in August with the interception of 59 m at 2.1 g / t, the company has completed 4,656 m of drilling to find out more about the deposit within its project. Duketon of +450 km² in the rich greenstone belt of Duketon in Western Australia.

The results have been inspiring to say the least, with multiple thick gold interceptions featuring exciting high-grade areas indicating the company is poised to win.

The mineralization is known to be open to the north and at depth, while the recent intersection to the south suggests the same is true in that direction as well.

Along with other notable prospects such as Amy Clarke, just 2 miles from Regis’ recently depleted 322,000 ounce Erlistoun surface gold mine and the subject of the first in a series of drill programs from Regis. Aerial carrots throughout the project, the Duketon project is quickly shaping up to be an important gold coin to watch in 2022.
