Drilling continues planned for Playfair’s RKV copper project, Norway

Vancouver, British Columbia–(Newsfile Corp. – Jan. 25, 2022) – Playfair’s (TSXV:PLY) (FSE:P1J1) (OTC Pink:PLYFF) extensive drilling program on its extensive (201 square kilometer) RKV Copper network 100% owned A project in south-central Norway to test targets identified using a combination of artificial intelligence geochemistry (CARDS) and mobile metal ions (MMI) was partially completed in late 2021. In an abbreviated program, shortened by Covid-19 and logistical issues, a total of 539.7 meters was drilled in 11 holes.

In 2022, a total of 26 holes are planned for a total of 1,300 meters. Drilling will be completed at Storboren and the high MMI copper targets of Røstvangen, Kletten and Sæterfjellet will also be drilled. The order of drilling will be dictated by logistics. The Municipality of Tynset has granted Playfair access to the drilling areas by helicopter. The logistics and scheduling of drilling in many of the target areas will be facilitated by the use of a helicopter.

All seven drill targets, as shown on the maps, show compelling consistent MMI Cu anomalies with several MMI Cu values ​​above 6,000 ppb. The highest recorded value was 53,300 ppb MMI Cu. A short MMI report from SGS indicates that values ​​above 6000 ppb MMI Cu”are likely to be associated with the weathering of copper sulphides”.

In keeping with Playfair’s intention to minimize the impact of its exploration on the natural environment, Playfair uses a lightweight drilling machine that can be dismantled and transported by hand to the drilling sites. Although lightweight, the rig is capable of drilling up to 150m deep with BQ size rods (36.5mm or 1.437 inch core diameter) and up to 100m deep with NQ size rods (47.8 mm or 1.872 inch core diameter).

2021 drilling results

Four holes were drilled at Rødalen and all were drilled on a steep slope. A previously unknown amphibolite with sulphide mineralization was discovered although the unit showed no significant copper or cobalt values.

Results from the partially completed drilling program at the Storboren High Copper MMI Anomaly indicate that the source of the copper bedrock is located upstream of the seven holes drilled in 2021. The immediate source of the drill-tested portion of the anomaly is interpreted as downslope migration of copper into the overburden due to a combination of soil creep, sulphide weathering and local acid drainage. The drilling was carried out late in the year and the onset of snowy winter conditions coupled with the very steep terrain necessitated the postponement of the remaining drilling to spring 2022.

The first 6 holes at Storboren were on the lower part of the slope and encountered mainly non-mineralized rocks of sedimentary origin. The last hole drilled, SBN-21-07, location shown on map and image, encountered intrusive mafic to ultramafic rocks mixed with sedimentary rock inclusions similar to those drilled downstream to the southeast. There were several intervals of sulphide mineralization showing anomalies of copper, cobalt and nickel. Of the 11 holes drilled in 2021 at Storboren and Rødalen, SBN-21-07 contains the 10 highest copper values, the 10 highest cobalt values ​​and 8 of the 10 highest nickel values. 102 drill core samples were analyzed. Copper values ​​range from 1.8 to 1355 ppm with an average of 144 ppm, Cobalt values ​​range from 15.4 to 97 ppm with an average of 38 ppm and Nickel ranges from 32.9 to 377 ppm with an average. average of 157 ppm.

Of particular interest is the occurrence of an area devoid of vegetation at the northern edge of the high-grade copper MMI anomaly. The usual encroaching vegetation is cut by an exposure 10-15 m long and 1-2 m wide from a water runoff near the base of the steeper upper slope.

In this non-vegetated area, numerous angular to sub-rounded blocks (10 to 50 cm) are present, some of local origin, others non-local and others of undetermined origin. One block, visually different from rocks in nearby outcrops and drill holes, was sulphide-rich and assayed 1.265% copper, 3.24% zinc, 0.199 gpt gold and 16.45 gpt silver.

This polymetallic mineralized block supports the interpretation of the location upstream of the source rock of the MMI anomaly.

Playfair plans continued shallow drilling to retrace the upslope of the MMI copper anomaly to its bedrock source.

Sample analysis and QA/QC program

Samples from the 2021 drill have been cut and sent for analysis. Preparation took place at the ALS laboratory in Malå, Sweden, with analysis at the ALS laboratory in Loughrea, Ireland.

ALS Minerals is internationally recognized as the world leader in providing solutions for geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures and data management, with its European Central Laboratory based in Loughrea, Co. Galway.

Playfair Mining uses a quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program that monitors the chain of custody of samples and includes the insertion of blanks, duplicates and reference standards in each batch of samples sent for analysis . The drill core is photographed, recorded and cut in half, with one half kept in a secure location for verification purposes and the other half sent for analysis. Sample preparation (crushing and pulverization) is carried out by ALS Geochemistry, an independent ISO 9001:2001 certified laboratory, in Malå, Sweden, and the slurries are sent to ALS Geochemistry in Loughrea, Ireland for analysis.

The entire sample is crushed to 70% passing -2 mm and a 250 gram split riffle is taken and pulverized to better than 85% passing 75 microns (PUL-31). Samples are analyzed by multi-acid digestion (4 acids)/ICP-MS Package for 48 elements (ME-MS-61). Additionally, samples are analyzed for Au, Pt and Pd using a standard fire assay from 30 gram pulp (PGM-ICP23). Sample values ​​exceeding the limit for silver (>100 g/t), lead (>1%), zinc (>1%) and copper (>1%) are reanalyzed using a method for exceeding the limit of four-acid digestion with ICP-AES (ME-OG62). No QA/QC issues were noted with the results reported here.
