DOT Designates Miter Operator of Automated Vehicle Safety Testing Platform

Miter has been selected by the Department of Transportation to operate a virtual application prototype designed to help developers test cooperative driving automation systems.

The Federal Highway Administration has created the Virtual Open Innovation Collaborative Environment for Safety platform for multiple entities to simultaneously participate in synthetic test environments of automated vehicle safety tools, the nonprofit research organization announced Thursday. .

Platform users can test CDA with human interaction and also between physical and simulated components.

Kerry Buckleyvice president of the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development at Mitre, said VOICES provides an interoperability network for government, private sector and academic stakeholders.

As the sole operator of VOICES, the association will lead the definition, development and continuous improvement of the platform.

The organization will also be responsible for building a team of system users, creating new technologies and demonstrating the product over the next 12 months.
