Aton announces start of phase II diamond drilling

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, November 23, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Aton Resources Inc. (AAN: TSX-V) (“Aton” or the “Company”) is pleased to inform investors of the commencement of diamond drilling its Rodruin Gold Exploration Project (Figure 1), located in the Abu Marawat 100% Company-owned concession (“Abu Marawat” or the “Concession”), in the Eastern Desert of Egypt.

“We are delighted to announce the start of the second phase of the Rodruin diamond drilling program”, said Tonno Vahk, interim CEO. “It has been a long and rocky road for this new program, but we are very happy to finally be back to drilling, as we aim to unlock the potential of the Rodruin gold project, as well as continue to move the Hamama project forward. West and the rest of our very promising Abu Marawat concession.

Rodruin diamond drilling program

In June 2021, the Company entered into a contract with Energold Drilling (EMEA) Limited (“Energold”) to undertake an initially scheduled 3,350m diamond drilling program at Rodruin (see press release dated June 14, 2021). Energold, which is considered one of the world’s premier mineral exploration drilling companies and has one of the world’s largest drilling fleets of some 160 rigs, are known field drilling specialists. difficult like Rodruin’s. Energold supplied a Global Drilling ID500-G crawler drill rig (Figure 2), which is specially designed to be able to drill horizontal and very shallow holes, as well as more conventional inclined and vertical holes, has a small footprint and is ideal for the difficult conditions of the Rodruin project.

The containerized drilling rig arrived on site in Rodruin on November 11, 2021 and was reassembled by the Energold drilling team, before following the 4.5 km access road to the Rodruin drilling sites. The last delivery of ancillary equipment arrived on site on November 17, 2021 and drilling began on November 22, 2021.

Drilling will be overseen by Aton’s experienced exploration team, which discovered the Rodruin deposit in 2017, with drill samples sent to ALS Minerals’ sample processing facility in Marsa Alam, Egypt, before being exported to ALS laboratories in Europe for geochemical analysis. The first assay results from this drilling program are expected in January 2022.

The program was designed to resolve some of the structural complexities of the Rodruin mineralization, as well as to move the project forward rapidly, with Aton’s goal being to produce a first resource on the Rodruin project as soon as possible. Extensive gold mineralization has been and continues to be identified at the surface at Rodruin (see press release of November 3, 2021). The first phase of the reverse circulation percussion (“RC”) drill program intersected large areas of oxidized mineralization from the surface, as well as a zone of deeper sulphide mineralization. The new drilling will also track mineralization intersected in the RC hole, which has returned intersections, including 36m @ 12.47 g / t Au (see press release of October 1, 2018). Drilling will be undertaken in the Aladdin’s Hill, Central Buttress, Spiral Pit and GF zones (see press release dated January 29, 2019), along with targeting of currently undrilled mineralization on the North Ridge which has returned grades ranging up to 321 g / t Au from surface samples (see press release dated February 6, 2018).

About Aton Resources Inc. Qualified person
Aton Resources Inc. (AAN: TSX-V) focuses on its 100% owned Abu Marawat concession (“Abu Marawat”), located in the Arab-Nubian Shield of Egypt, approximately 200 km north of the gold mine world-class Sukari from Centamin. Aton has identified numerous gold and base metal exploration targets at Abu Marawat, including the Hamama deposit to the west, the Abu Marawat deposit to the northeast, and the Rodruin advanced exploration prospect to the south of the concession. Two historic British gold mines are also located on the concession at Sir Bakis and Semna. Aton has identified several distinct geological trends within Abu Marawat, which have the potential for the development of a variety of styles of precious and base metal mineralization. Abu Marawat is 447.7 km away2 in size and is located in an area of excellent infrastructure; a four-lane motorway, a 220 kV power line and a water pipeline are in the immediate vicinity, as are the international airports of Hurghada and Luxor.
